Factors Involve Ethnic Differences in Teen Birthrates: High School Dropout, Minority, and Poverty
This literature review focuses on how minority status, poverty status, and dropping out of high school can lead to teen pregnancy. The purpose of this literature review is to understand what the main reasons are that cause teen pregnancy. This paper will include data that has been collected from the past, comparison between each ethnic group, and theories to explain the correlation between poverty and teen pregnancy, as well as, relationship between high school dropout and teen pregnancy. There are some inconsistent findings between poverty and teen pregnancy. Overall, most findings are consistent. Poverty and dropping out of school do serve as risky factors for teen pregnancy.
