Overview Each year the hospital where you work, Stronger Memorial hosts a Wellness Fair for its employees. The Fair is well attended; people are encouraged to use their breaks and lunch time to tour the booths and learn about issues of personal and professional importance. This year, you are on the Wellness Fair organizing committee and will be working with colleagues from around the hospital to develop educational materials for various booths. To get started on these materials, it is important to first have a solid understanding of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology of body systems. Directions The final item you will be creating for the Wellness Fair is a collection of three informational “Fact Sheets” that educate hospital employees about common diseases. After the Wellness Fair, these fact sheets will serve as quick-reference educational materials for patients. Choose three diseases from the "Essential Elements of a Disease Fact Sheet" document in the Resources section. After learning about each disease, create a four-page disease fact sheet that, in your own words, provides a comprehensive overview of the disease, causes and progression, and treatment options. Consult the document "Essential Elements of a Disease Fact Sheet" for more information. See the diabetes fact sheet from the CDC for an example of how to effectively use a mix of text and visuals. You need to carefully determine which material should be included while creating clear and concise four-page fact sheets.
