Abstract: We have been asked by lecturer to design an engineering project for our final semester in the HND program. After some time pondering and brainstorming with my project colleagues, we settled on designing a thermostat with temperature sensor and to be utilised inside a house. Therefore, we have chosen this for several reasons which the main are to save money and energy on our customers heating and cooling bills. As part of the project we will clarify in depth our design, so we have prepared a comprehensive and detailed report which contains the following outlines: 1. A full detailed design specification including customer requirement and the design parameters. 2. A comprehensive and full design report which covers the analysis and calculations that are required to meet the customer demands and specifications. Also producing a conceptual design of the final product. 3. Utilisation of computer-aided design system during the process of designing the product, and demonstrating an understanding of the principles of ECAD.
