Title: Jovian Moons
Description: Basic description of several Jovian moons.I have included some pictures as well as describe what moon would be best for colonization. These notes are great for basic Astronomy.

...
The Volcano Plumes are often quite large and be seen
in satellite pictures even
...
Io most likely originated by being formed out of various
debris that came together over a great amount of time
...
Europa is another moon of Jupiter it has great amounts of ice on it's surface along with the large
tracks of dirt which look almost as if dirt bikes rode across the entire moon
...
Most likely in is
comprised of various debris that came together to form the planet similarly to Io
...
Ganymede is a really neat looking moon with it's white craters that really contrast to it's
otherwise Grey surface
...
Ganymede appears to be fully differentiated consisting of an iron core and its precise thickness
of the different layers of the interior vary due to the composition of silicates and the amount of
sulfur in the core
...
Titan formed in a similar fashion to the
other icy moons however Titan was cold enough to allow the molecule Nitrogen to become
solid
...
Titan is composed primarily of water ice and rocky material
...
Also the planet is shown to have sand Dunes on it similar
to what Earth has
...
Enceladus is quite interesting indeed
...
It is interesting to see how many line and grooves
are upon the surface
...
I could not find much on the origin of Enceladus but I did find
that scientists believe it is a very young moon indeed and it is still geologically active
...
7
...
Triton is thought to have been a dwarf planet from the Kuiper belt that was
captured into Neptune's orbit
...
8
...
It is well known for having a giant crater on it's
surface which makes it in a sense look kind of like the Death Star from the movie
Star Wars
...
Another theory is a serious of giant
impacts on pre-existing moons might have helped to form Iapetus from the debris
of all the collisions
...
Questions
1
...
The enormous gravitational stress that the mass of Jupiter and the tides caused by the
moons cause gravitational flexing which heats the interiors of these moons so they remain
geologically active
...
I would expect the moons of those planets to be at least somewhat colder because they are
further away from the sun and thus produce less heat
...
From
what I investigated it appears the moons that orbit these further out planets are indeed colder
...
I think the money was well spent on these missions
...
First of all we can use the data to compare these moons to one
another and we can look at how different moons are formed and how they come to be the way
they do
...
We could learn more about how
some moons are geologically active and why some are not and possibly more about conditions
for life to form
...
4
...
Titan is believed to
likely have liquid water under it's ice plus it has a fairly dense atmosphere
...
Humans would
have a very time colonizing Titan right now with it's cold temperatures and other harsh conditions but
it's possible that when the sun becomes a red giant Titan would heat up and the atmosphere could
change and become somewhat more earth like or at least enough for humans to work with and thus start
the colonization process in the distant future
