volcanoes, earthquakes, bushfires, floods, swamps, etc

It is recommended in the sloka to practice in an area of one and a half meters,
where there are no surrounding objects which may cause physical affliction
should they be knocked, etc

This is the description of the yoga hermitage as prescribed by the siddhas for
the hatha yoga practitioners

It should be spotlessly clean, wiped with cow manure and free from animals or
insects

The appearance of the hermitage should be
pleasant

Nowadays, however,
windows can have fly screens attached, so there would be no harm in having a
window or two as long as there are curtains

great distraction as the sadhaka’s attention outside world and external

If the mind is to be kept pure and unpolluted, it is essential that the

Fasting is useful to stimulate the digestive system, to eliminate toxins and to

The stomach should never be overloaded; it should be half filled with food, one
quarter with water and one quarter with air

When kundalini shakti passes beyond ajna, duality and ego cease to exist

Sahasrara
is situated at the crown of the head and is associated with the pituitary gland

mentioned in the Tantras

karmendriyas, five jnanendriyas, five tanmatras, five tattwas, ahamkara, chitta,
manas and buddhi

Mudra is a specific body position which channelizes the energy produced by

verily, these are the ten mudras which destroy old age and death

Nirvikalpa or nirbeeja samadhi is the disappearance of the last trace of
samskara and vikalpa

From dharma megha samadhi onwards,
there is complete freedom from karma and kleshas (ignorance, egoism,
attachment, aversion, clinging to life)

That is timeless,
changeless – the supreme samadhi
