Hypoxic conditions can be caused by many different things, including: lowered blood
flow due to something blocking the blood from the inside or compressing the blood
vessel from the outside (ischemia); Traumatic injury causes ischemia; Buddchiari
syndrome is a type of ischemia caused by a blocked hepatic vein; if the oxygen
supply is low enough for long enough it can cause cell death (cell death); too much
time has passed and the cells have actually died, the ischemic damage is irreversible
(infarction); one example of irreversible damage is something like heart attack or
myocardial infarction, where an artery supplying a specific part of the heart with
blood becomes blocked (heart attack)
