DECOMPOSITION REACTION
These are opposite to combination reaction in these reactions combined elements decompose into
two or more simpler compounds ex are just reverse of combination reaction
It can be done by giving heat which is called thermal decomposition

By electricity which is called electrolysis

These are those reactions in which different grp of atoms are different grp of atoms from

OXIDATION

1-addition of oxygen to an element OR is defined as
2- removal of hydrogen from an element ex

REDUCTION
it is also the process which is defined by two defined by two definitions
1)-Addition of hydrogen to an substance
2)-removal of oxygen from an substance
Ex – CUO + H2 = CU + H2o

AND WHEN COMBINED TOGETHER IS CALL REDOX REACTION
Redox reactions are those reactions in which oxidation and reduction occur simultaneously

CORROSION
the process of eaten up of metals by the action of air water and humidity
and converting them into powder like substance is called corrosion

RANCIDITY
the process of oxidation of food material containing fat or oil by the
action of air water and humidity is called rancidity and is prevented by
keeping the food material into air tight container or by keeping them in
packets containing BHA OR BHI or nitrogen
