Point: 
an exact location but has no size 
Line: 
a set of points in a straight path that continues forever in OPPOSITE 
directions 
Line Segment: 
part of a line with TWO endpoints 
Ray: 
part of a line with ONE endpoint and extending forever in ONE 
direction 
Plane: 
a flat and endless surface, only has length and width 
Angle: 
TWO rays joined at a common endpoint called the vertex 
Right Angle: 
an angle whose measure is exactly 90° 
Obtuse Angle: 
an angle whose measure is between 91° and 180° 
Acute Angle: 
an angle whose measure is between 0° and 89° 
Straight Angle: 
an angle whose measure is exactly 180° 
Adjacent Angles: 
angles that are next to each other and share a ray 
Vertical Angles: 
angles that face each other and are equal in measure 
Transversal: 
a line that crosses through 2 parallel lines 
Corresponding Angles: 
angles that are on the same side of the transversal line and are in 
corresponding positions 
 
 

Alternate Interior Angles: 
angles that are on opposite sides of the transversal line and on the 
INSIDE of the parallel lines 
Alternate Exterior Angles: 
angles that are on opposite sides of the transversal line and on the 
OUTSIDE of the parallel lines 
Supplementary: 
when the measure of 2 angles is exactly 180° 
Complementary: 
when the measure of 2 angles is exactly 90° 
Intersecting Lines: 
lines that cross at one point 
Parallel Lines: 
lines that NEVER intersect 
Perpendicular Lines: 
lines that intersect to form a right angle 
Skew Lines: 
lines that ARE NOT in the same plane, don't intersect, and are not 
parallel 
Scalene Triangle: 
3 UNEQUAL sides 
Isosceles Triangle: 
2 equal sides and 1 unequal side 
Equilateral Triangle: 
all 3 sides are equal
