King David
David was sanctified when the prophet Samuel came to see Jesse's sons and declared
David as worthy of presiding over a kingdom by anointing him with the horn of oil to bestow
the spirit of the lord upon him
...
David came forth as the
champion and slew him with 5 smooth stones he retrieved from a river

Saul made David a commander of his army but, after retrieving 200 Philistine foreskins as
a symbol of marriage to his daughter Michal, he feared David would soon take the
kingdom
...

Once David had been crowned king he committed adultery with Bathsheba, the wife
of Uriah the Hittite
...
But the prophet Nathan abhorred these actions and condemned his child to die; after
seven days the child passed away due to an illness given to him by God
...
This meant that now Adonijah
was the rightful heir to the throne
...

However Bathsheba and the prophet Nathan brokered an agreement with David so that
Soloman, Bathsheba's son, would be crowned king
...
He later passed away and was buried as close to the City of David as possible on mount
Zion
Jeremiah 31: 31-34
In this passage Jeremiah is describing how he will rebuild a pact that was previously
broken by instilling the knowledge of God into his people
...
Clearly Jeremiah wants to help the houses by
ensuring that they do not spread the false teachings that they currently hold; "no longer shall
each one teach his neighbour and each his brother" (Sydney CYC)
...

I think "the law within us" is a reference to a person accepting God into their hearts
and being aware of the commandments and tenets that he preaches; upholding them and
abiding by them
...
" (Biblegateway, Sydney CYC)
