ENGLISH LITERATURE (POETRY): DETAILED POEM ANALYSIS

This is helpful to students of English at any level in their education. Here, there are pages of analysis of poem 'Below The Green Corrie' which some exam boards want you to know about. However the purpose of this poem analysis is that it is for the Unseen Poetry exam, which gives you a poem you've never read before, and this can imitate that.

Hobbes' Absolute Sovereign

Hobbes claims that people are authorized to an absolute sovereign while at the same time reserving to himself or herself the right to resist under certain circumstances. This right to resists or rebel undermines Hobbes's claim for the absolute power of the sovereign and it renders the entire Hobbesian justification for absolute sovereignty invalid. The Leviathan has therefore sometimes been called out as a rebel’s catechism, justifying rebellion instead of supporting absolute power. This essay will prove that Hobbes’ claim for an absolute sovereign in his commonwealth is flawed because of the right that each individual holds to protect themselves above all else. Supporting evidence from Jean Hampton’s, Hobbes and the Social Contract Tradition will be cited, and a unique comparison between Hobbes and Locke will be made to further prove that the Leviathan can justifiably be called a rebel’s catechism.

The Bloody Chamber story notes- A-Level, Literature

These notes are aimed for those studying Gothic Literature at A2 level but suitable for any level higher or lower. The notes consist of some analysis for the first story in Angela Carter's series of short stories, with important quotes and detailed analysis and themes of these quotes. Very useful for having most the analysis down on one page rather than skipping through pages. At least two thirds of the short story is analysed. A lot of the notes are comprised from York notes/Literature tutor so they include an extensive amount of detail but is also worded simply for easy revision.
