Live Sound
...
One of these things is your venue
...
The term sound
reinforcement means boosting a particular sound to make the sound louder
and stronger
...
According to
Dave Bode (2013):
“In a really small live sound situation, you’ll be reinforcing the sound a lot less
because you have more noise that your dealing with from the stage or
whatever’s making the noise and so your not going to be able to bring up the
reinforcement of that whole lot
...
There are many types of PA
systems that can be used for live sound
...

A typical start up for a PA system in live sound usage is too first make sure
everything is turned off by a visual check then connect the monitors
...
After this, with the help of the band,
assuming all instruments are plugged into all the right places, you make a mix
for the rear monitor for the drummer and a mix for the front monitors for the
vocalist
...

Another factor to be considered when setting up for live sound is the texture
and height of a venue
...
The reason for this is because in a room completely made
of glass, there would be nowhere for the sound to be absorbed
...
This will mean the sound engineer
would have to turn the overall sound up
...
This
could be a full-scale concert at somewhere like Wembley Stadium or a small
gig at a public house
...

Live sound engineers also do a variety of other jobs such as discussing what
needs to be done with the musician and making sure that what the musician
wants is indeed attainable, making sure they have pre-recorded any sound
effects or other music if the musician so desires it, choose in collaboration
with the artist what microphones and equipment should be used to get the
best possible sound, position and rig up the microphones appropriately, sound
check and operate the desk during the show among other things
...

There is a variety of equipment you can use in a live sound set up
...
Bands usually bring their own instruments and any other
equipment they may need
...
A microphone
for the main vocalist needs to be as near to the front as possible without being
too close to the front cabs as this would cause feedback issues
...
For
reinforcement of musical instruments, there are several main objectives of
microphone techniques: to maximize pick-up of suitable sound from the
desired instrument, to minimize pick-up of undesired sound from instruments
or other sound sources, and to provide sufficient gain-before-feedback
...
There are two main types of
monitors- Passive and Active
...
This means passive monitors require a
separate amplifier to work
...

The average young person can hear approximately 20-20,000 hz (Hertz)
...
20hz would be a low bass
sounding vibration whereas 20,000hz would be an extremely high pitched
sound such as a dog whistle
...
