One is the functional-impression technique where you use
a soft reline material to do the impression

Prepare the existing denture

Adjust it accordingly if it’s too long or
too short (put modeling compound)

Make the impression and do
border molding

Give that to the patient


Since the material is soft, it will adjust with the functions of
the mouth so when the patient comes back, you check the
denture with the impression

Instead, you ask the patient to
leave the denture and don’t wear it for a day just to allow
the tissues to rest

You prepare the denture and remove at least 1mm to allow
for the impression material

Do the impression just like a normal impression and do
border molding

Then you check if you have a good impression

