INTRODUCTION
NGO’s are bodies which function free from the control of governmental control
...
They act as a mediator
between society and government
...

Here those people participate who want to make the world a better place for every individual
who is
suffering
...
It doesn’t take any financial help from the
government some work on there on and some take finance from those who are willing to do
good for
society
...

In this organization, anyone can take membership and become its member
...
But Edwin Masihi says that it isn’t
always free for everyone at times on demand people are enrolled
...
People who reach to these points get the
membership and with already present members approval
...

NGO’s have a very unique and vast past history in India
...
People of India are believed to help
each and every one in need and with their, on the wish, they provide this help
...

As they believed if they help people in need then God would reward them and wash away their
sins
...

Many
rulers also started the charity and serving human lives as they believed God would give them
more

and would shower his blessing upon them
...
In past people were not selfish and had we feeling that helped in building up
the
community life
...

Somewhere in 18th and 19th-century people started forming many organizations and
associations
and these bodies were formed for those people who wanted to give their service in more
organized
and structured manner
...
One of
the
examples of organized and voluntarily done activity was the reform movement on the 19th
century
...
The body of
these organization was self-governed and was far away from any social evil no caste system,
nothing! They purely worked for the benefit of society irrespective of caste, creed, religion, sex
etc
...

NGO’s as an organization are progression really quickly and are gaining popularization in the
world
...
They are seen in the
development
of citizens in civil society
...
The organization i
...
, NGO’s help educates those section of society which was left behind in
the
society since its inception and never enjoyed benefits that government has facilitated them with
...

2
...
Girls face many problems no right to education,
forcefully
making them marry, not letting them work outside the houses
...

3
...
Now women have witnessed a whole new world
due
to the efforts of NGO’s and academic institutions
...
There are many foundations such as Agrani foundation, Eklavya, Sewa and
Environmental Action Group etc
...

4
...

That is why NGO’s take birth to keep eyes on such activities
...
In this case, NGO’s deserve an appreciation as they have done a lot to work for
such
causes
...
It’s not just that because of developmental processes environment has been affected but it
also has
moved people from their place of origin or birth not just that they are not even compensated and
given another place to live
...
Hence NGO’s play a significant role to
provide
them shelter and look after all the legal processes
...
and compensate these people
...
Task-oriented and driven by people with a
common interest, NGOs perform a variety of service and humanitarian functions, bring citizen
concerns to Governments, advocate and monitor policies and encourage political participation
through provision of information
...
They provide analysis and expertise, serve as early warning
mechanisms and
help monitor and implement international agreements
...

NGO’s one of the most important task would be that they are helping and restoring the dignity of
those who always have been ignored and never enjoyed those activities which other people did
such
as women facing gender inequality, untouchables discrimination, racial, religious These NGO’s
are
working on a national and international level and have gained great importance in the
development

of society
...
It is
setting an example of humanity is still alive
...
However, the term "NGO" is not typically
applied to U
...
-based nonprofit organizations
...
NGO activities include, but are not limited to, environmental, social, advocacy and
human
rights work
...

NGOs play a critical part in developing society, improving communities, and promoting citizen
participation
...
sriananthaswamyashram
...
It
served a greater purpose towards the well-being of not just the Swakula Sali community but
towards
all section of the society
...

Sri Anantha Swamy came in search of a peaceful and righteous place to extend his kind
activities
towards mankind and setup a place to engage in activities praising the Lord Vittala
...

This ashram was established around 1900
...
Many devotees came forward to build an ashram
but
he refused
...
At the first instance four rooms consisting of Garbha Gruha and the
Upanyas
Mandir were constructed
...
This
very
purpose keeps us growing stronger
...
After marriage and few years
later
Sri Anantha Maharaj renounced worldly affairs and stepped-out of the house towards the goal of
peace by chanting "Ramakrishna Hari"
...
He frequently
travelled to Pandharpur by foot praying to Lord Vittala along the way
...
,
to promote the Bhakti Awareness among the people
...

During the spread of epidemic plague disease of 1901, Sri Anantha Maharaj personally nursed
and
fed many patients
...

Sri Anantha Maharaj reached the abode of God on 16th January 1902 (Year – Plava, Pushya
Shuddha Saptami - Thursday)
...
He renounced his
worldly affairs and chose to take the path of devotion and service to mankind
...

Subsequently he adored the Supreme Peetham of Anantha ashram
...

Indian political activist Kasturbaji, during her visit to Bengaluru, along with Gandhiji and
followers,
visited the Ashram and listened to the Bhajans & Abhangs sung by Swamy keenly for about
Three
hours
...

He left to the Heavenly abode on 15th April, 1963
...
This Ashram is
managed by the respective trustees and witnesses regular Devotional activities

Our seven days in
Ashram, I
learnt many things how to have a meaningful life by serving the society
...
Although the Ashram is
located the
center of the city, it is free from all kind od disruptions
...
As soon as I reached the place the first thing, I did was taking the blessings of Sadguru
Anantha
Swamy and then I observed that preparation for the Medical camp was going on, so I joined
hands
with them and started helping them arranging chairs and tables, helping them to put on the tent
for the
camp
...

Later it was time for the morning Aarthi so I was instructed to go buy flowers and fruits and other
pooja items as per the list given by them
...

Later the Aarthi the camp was about to begin
...
I was honored to do such task and fulfilled it with enthusiasm
...
All people who visited the
Ashram got their free checkup done and also received free medicines after testing as per their
health
issues
...

The second and third day I started by grooming and cleaning the Ashram to maintain the
cleanliness
same as maintained by them before
...
I was given the opportunity to serve the food to people
which was such a charitable work
...
After the devotes left I cleaned the entire
place
and dumped the waste outside the Ashram
...
It was such an honor to serve the needy people and help them, later after which I
returned back and enjoyed the peacefulness of the Ashram
...

On day four I arrived at the Ashram and then took blessings of God and then I medicated for
around
one hour, I was very happy to spend our quality time with the Ashram people and the devotees
helping each other together as one
...

The
next day started by morning pooja, I all joined the Aarthi followed by meditation for half n hour
...

After distributing prasadham I also collected the waste and dumped it
...

Then I spoke and interacted with other poor students of the Ashram about their daily routines,
their
education and the help they get from this Ashram and so on
...

I would suggest everyone who have not still visited this spiritual place to go get a peaceful
experience by serving others, as when I go inside, I feel the solace and the divine connections
with
life and feeling of serving others is totally unique and different
...
As usual I reached the Ashram early,
the
Abhisheka for Ananthswamy and Lord Pandurang was already completed and I took the
blessing of
God and drank the holy Abhishek water
...
As usual my noon 4 I
started helping in pooja preparation like decorating the pooja place, hanging flowers on doors
and
decorating the God murti with flowers and fruits
...

By evening the pooja began and all the food prepared was offered to God, the pooja went on
very
systematically and auspiciously and lot of people gathered for the pooja
...
I almost served around fifty people as
much
as the required and finally the day ended and I was praised by the entire Ashram people
...
I heartfully thanked the whole
Ashram team to give us this opportunity to serve and help them in some way at the upmost
...

CONCLUSION
An Ashram shelters the people who are in need, provides food for people in need and arranges
medical camp for people who cannot afford to have regular check of their health and body
condition
...

I personally had got this opportunity to visit an Ashram as a part of my Community Service
Internship assigned to me by the college but now, I feel it was necessary for me for a change
rather
than taking it just as an assignment which gave me a real exposure to the outside world of what
was
going on around me
...

Many activities and events that took place at the Ashram were very disciplined and perfect as
per
the schedule and went on accordingly and we were honored to get an opportunity to be a part of
such events and be helpful in one or the other way
...
We felt ourselves lucky among those poor people that we
have everything in life yet we don’t realize its importance
...

At last, I would say that we were blessed to such service to society and I personally thank my
college faculties and the university to make this as a part of our education apart from studies
and
also to give me this immense opportunity for completing my internship
...
They have an inherent potential for high
achievement
...
In professional

social
work, the aim is to help individuals with the integration of their inner motives and the demands of
their social environment and to help change social environment if it is detrimental to the social
development of the individuals
...

There is no more a status quo
...
The
concern of
social worker is based on an understanding of the dynamics of human behaviour
...
The
importance, scope and future prospects of community work His knowledge and skill specially in
the
community organization process form an integral part of his skill in working with individuals and
groups
...
Further, social work skills essential in group work and
recreation can also make a notable contribution to Community development
...
Another area where community organization can
make
a contribution is administration
...

Community
organizers trained in social welfare administration will be able to apply democratic principles to
the
development of community development programs
