A TALE OF TWO CITIES
Poem with translation & Explanation
Main idea
The poet tells us about the destruction of japan
during the Second World War
...
Hiroshima and Nagasaki
...
But in spite
of facing such a massive destruction
...
They became the
bigger world economic power
...
“A tale of two cities”
...
The Americans
dropped two atoms bombs on the two glorious
cities
...
What destruction
took place there is beyond description
...
Black clouds of smoke were rising high
...

Then the bombs fell
...

They were weak and helpless in this misery
...
Even the mountains were
weeping to see the misery of people
...
Hunger prevailed everywhere
...

Nothing could be done to lessen the groans of the
miserable
...
Fruits of different tastes
were burnt to ashes
...
Every
building was broken and razed
...
Nothing was intact
...

The explosion produced a great and destructive fire
on earth
...

Stanza 5
All was done by a Nation
Who in her wild passion
Cared not for the human rights
Not saved them deadly fights

Explanation: On 6 Aug, 1945 Americans in their mad
fury dropped two atom bombs on Japan
...
Who kill animals to satisfy
their hunger? The Americans killed innocent people
in blind rage
...
None was saved by the deadly fight of the
Americans
...
It was indeed a black day for them
when they faced the destruction of atom bombs
...
But in spite of facing such a
huge destruction, the people of japan rose again
and became the world economic power
