What are your first impressions of Curley's wife?
My first impressions of Curley's wife are that she's 'purty' but she's also a 'tart' and is
sneaky, I can infer this from the quote "she got the eye" ,which was in a conversation
between George and the swamper (Candy) From this quote I can make inference to the fact
that Candy's drawing awareness to Curley's wife's flirty and sneaky behavior/attitude
...
A tart
...

My first impressions of Curley's wife are that she's very flirty, cares a lot about her
appearance and is somewhat insecure, I can make inference from the quote "She put her
hands behind her back and leaned against the door frame
...
The quote "Heavily made up
...
I can also make inference to the fact that she wears a lot of
makeup, which helps prove a point on how she is vain and how she cares quite a lot about
her appearance, this could further extend to convey how she could be insecure inside, I can
reference this from the fact that she wears a lot of makeup this could elaborate onto the
point that she is insecure so she feels she needs a lot of makeup, almost like a mask to cover
up her natural beauty, to feel somewhat beautiful
...
" helps to support the point that she is quite vain,
furthermore I can draw inference to the colour 'red' as it symbolizes many things
...
The quote "Her voice had a nasal, brittle quality" helps to illustrate this image
of a fragile person who may be mentally unstable, I can make this inference from the word
'brittle' as it symbolizes weakness, something breakable, fragile and delicate, This also
shows how she is not very confident as she has a weakness to her voice, this helps to
support the point on how Curley's wife could be insecure
...
However this can also indicate a sense of flirtatiousness as
she could be seeking for attention
...
I can infer theses words because red is
quite an erotic colour, although the things red can symbolize are endless
...
This quote can further be
analyzed to represent Curley's wife's status, since ostriches cannot fly and achieve there
full potential it could help convey how Curley's wife is unable to achieve anything higher in
life and it could help to imply how she's 'stuck' in life and is unable to get anywhere else or
achieve her full potential which might be an indication on why she portrays herself in a
certain manner
...
Curley's wife, is not referred to by her actual name,
she is referred to by her husbands name and her title as a 'wife' this helps to illustrate how
the male is dominant and how she is subservient
...
