Facts:
Prokaryotes - Bacteria and Archaea Bacteria
Prokaryotes - no nucleus
Eukaryotes - nucleus
Eukaryotes - protists, fungi, plants & animals
ATP - Energy
Not all cells = same
Each cell has it’s own function
Function determines how many / what type of organelles it has
Organelle - any membrane bound structure
All cells = same DNA
Cells - smallest unit of life
Parts:
Nucleus - controll center, DNA
Nuclear Membrane - protects nucleus
Nucleolus - makes RNA
REM - contains ribosomes
RER - make & transport protein, contains ribosomes which make the protein
Lipids - fat
SER - make & transport lipids
Golgi - packages & ships protein
Vesicle - package containing protein
Mitochondria - powerhouse of cell (ATP)
Cytoplasm - jell in cell
Lysosomes - contains digestive enzymes to break down dead cell parts, waste
bin
Cytoskeleton - structure of the cell
Cell wall - keeps everything in
Central Vacuole - stores water
Chloroplast - stores chlorophyl, allows photosynthesis
Cell theory:

...
Everything = composed of cells

Fleming discovered penicillin (fungus) ((best antibiotic))
Antibiotics kill bacteria by breaking a hole in the cell wall and lets its innards leak
out
Antibiotics kill all bacteria, good or bad
Bacteria can become immune to antibiotics (antibiotic resistance)
Pilli can form a bridge between two bacteria to tell it how to resist certain
antibiotics (conjugation)
Plasmic holds genetic information
To grow bacteria, a biopsy of the bacteria is taken and is grown on a petri dish
containing a food source, or medium, and is placed in a warm, humid
atmosphere where it can grow and can be observed by microscopes, gramstained or can have cyanide added to it
...
The
bacteria that is trying to be killed sometimes inherit resistance from other
bacteria, but we buy the products with the bacteria and the government makes
money off of it
...
Bacteria from other places in the world can become deadly to foreigners because
their immune systems are not used to the bacteria
...
Flagellates
