Measures of Central Tendency and the Range
The following statistical tools are used to interpret data
...
People often misrepresent
information in order to unfairly sway your opinion or steal your money
...
Add up all the data
entries, and then divide by the total number of entries
...
Outlier- a value which is more than one and a half times the
standard deviation for a set of data
...
If the
data set has an odd number of entries then there will be one value in the
middle
...
Mode- “frequency”, the data value which occurs the greatest number of
times
...
Not good for small sets of
data due to the limited times a value may repeat
...
If no
value occurs the greatest number of times, then there is no mode for that set
...
Note- this is not a measure of central tendency but a
measure of variance
...
Data Set 1- (90, 93, 85, 100, 54, 93, 0)
Data Set 2- (100, 95, 50, 97, 89, 50, 93, 98)
