Laser Therapy

How the machine works
Made from gallium, aluminium, arsenide which is a solid state semi-conductor diode
...
This laser will be a single wave length and the waves will be in
sync with each other and will be traveling in the same direction
...
complex 4 is known as the cytochrome c oxidase, is a photo
excerptor, which accepts the laser light, within complex 4 there are haem ions which are iron and we
have copper, nitric oxide binds to both of these, when you have damaged tissue, meaning complex 4
don’t work, this is because the nitric oxide inhibits oxygens ability of binding to the cox group which
normally produces water and hydrogen
...

However inflammation and laser also increases reactive oxygen species if this is to high it can
damage tissues, however laser can also increase super oxidise dismutase which is an anti-oxidant,
this decreases the reactive oxygen species with in the tissue
...
it has been found that laser can increase prostaglandin production meaning increase
proliferation, however then starts to decrease, meaning laser is a pro and anti-inflammatory

laser can also reduce pain by blocking nerves however this research is fairly new

Dosage
how often can you use it
...

on acute soft tissue injuries can be daily for 3 days when first injured then 2 times a week for 6
weeks, symptoms should have decreased a lot or should be healed
...

photosensitive reactions- people who are sensitive to the sun
people who are epiletic could trigger fits at a low frequency when applying laser
