Hand, Upper Limb Joints, and Axilla

Shoulder
•  Three joints in the shoulder complex are:
–  Sternoclavicular joint
–  Acromioclavicular joint
–  glenohumeral joint

Elbow
•  Elbow joit complex include:
–  humero-ulnar (between the trochlea of the
humerus and the ulnar trochlear notch)
–  humero-radial (between the capitulum of the
humerus and the radial head)

•  These primarily are involved with hinge-like
flexion and extension of the forearm on the
arm

•  The joint between the head of the radius and
the radial notch of the ulna, the proximal
radio-ulnar joint, is involved with pronaHon
and supinaHon of the forearm
