Alkanes only burn in the gaseous state
Must be vaporised before burning
Used to generate electricity
Propane is often preferred over natural gas, methane as it
can be liquefied under pressure and low temperatures so a
large amount can be stored in a small space
- The liquid alkane will not burn until gaseous state so can be
easily and safely transported
