Homework about inequality
Is inequality inevitable?
If we first of all look at this question from an economic perspective, giving everyone the
same amount of pay would either result in a poor society, if the pay is too small, or an
increased inflation in the country, if the pay is too big
...
Low income (for every worker in society)
equals a poor society which equals a poor country, since nobody has any money to
spend
...
However, if different jobs gave different pay, there is an opportunity of taxes to reduce
inequality
...
From a gender perspective however, inequality is preventable
...
This is mostly related to education and occupation, since most girls in
developing countries do not get to attend school while most boys do
...
From a societal perspective, inequality is not inevitable either
...
This ideology has been historically proven to work better in theory
than in practise, leaving countries that have adopted it poor and undeveloped, usually
with a dictator as political leader
...
To this, the answer is not as
simple as a yes or no
...
However, as stated above,
absolute inequality is not inevitable
...
If we take communism as example again, it cannot work properly in
practice if everyone should be 100% equal, one of the reasons being that the people
still need a leader, and this leader usually ends up being a dictator in these communistic
countries, thus having more power, wealth etc
...
If we return back to the question, I do believe that it is okay with inequality to a certain
extent, meaning that if the inequality is for example that people who are rich have to pay
much higher taxes than those who are not, it is okay because the taxes go back to the
members of society
...
It all depends on who you count as the vast majority of
people
...
So to conclude my discussion, I do believe that inequality to a certain extent is
inevitable, and that complete equality in some fields (as mentioned) would not be good
in the long run
...
It should only occur to benefit the people (higher taxes for some) and not to
please someone’s own opinionated desires (men having more rights than women)
