Description: Essay explaining how Scrooge changes from a ‘Covetous old sinner’ to ‘a good man’ in the course of ‘A Christmas Carol. Preview of first paragraph: "A Christmas Carol is a story about redemption. It is about how one man, who has led a selfish and greedy life, gets a chance to revisit his past and observe the consequences of his choices in life. Ebenezer Scrooge is a penny-pinching selfish character. He cares nothing for the people around him and they exist only for the money that can be made through business and intimidation. He particularly detests Christmas which he believes is 'a time for finding yourself a year older, and not an hour richer'. "
