Unit 12: Internet Marketing in Business
P2: Describe how selected organisations use Internet marketing
In this task, I will show how two different businesses use internet marketing to help advertise
last minute promotions in order to increase sales and raise brand awareness
...

Tesco
Firstly, Tesco would use different methods in order to last minute promotions
...
, Last chance to buy
...
Tesco may also do video adverts through TV or social media, where they show the
discounted product on screen, and they show what the price used to be and show the
current price, and tell the viewer that the promotion is only happening for a given time, so
therefore the viewer is shown visually about what they can buy and how much time they
have to buy the product from Tesco
...

In terms of targeting individual customers, they may contact them directly, through email, as
stated above, where they email them about any promotions that have on at the time, they
may message their phone number, if the customer has text alerts for any promotions
...

Tesco may also find different ways to collect market research, so as stated above, they may
use cookies, to see what their customers are interested in, so therefore, they could then
promote whatever the customer was looking at earlier, so for example, if a customer was
considering buying FIFA 20, and they were looking on Google for it, then this data may be
collected and this may lead to this product potentially being promoted on the Tesco website,
so therefore, the customer is more enticed to buying the game as they see the patterns and
this may lead to subliminal advertising
...
Firstly, after a user has finished

shopping online, there may be a survey pop up, asking about their shopping experience,
rating it on 1-10, and sometimes the customer may do this
...

As stated above, Tesco may use more traditional forms of advertising in order to advertise
last minute promotions, so in store, they may use terms on posters, such as ‘last chance to
buy’, so therefore this will then help convince customers to take the cut price, as they will
then think they won’t get this offer again, so therefore this advertisement activity will then be
successful in terms of creating a buzz around the promotion
...
The first way would be to directly contact the customer through
an email, so they would inform the customer of a certain % off any given product when the
promotion is happening and they would also give them an indication of when the promotion
would end, so the customer knows how much time they have, and this gives them more
freedom to purchase
...
Finally, either in store or on
the website, there could be posters within the store or outside the store to show whatever
promotion is currently happening, and on the website, there may be a banner ad, to show
how much the product is going for, for that given time, so you know there and then, that
there is an opportunity to save money
...
Adidas
may also use online cookies cross platform, so if you viewed an adidas product on
Instagram or Twitter, they may continue to advertise this so therefore, you may eventually be
likely to buy the product in the long run
...

As stated above, similar to Tesco, adidas may use more traditional forms of advertising in
order to advertise last minute promotions, so in store, they may use terms on posters, such
as ‘last chance to buy’ and show the % off, to show in a visual way, how much the customer
will save so therefore this will then help convince customers to take the cut price, as they will
then think they won’t get this offer again, so therefore this advertisement activity will then be
successful in terms of creating a buzz around the promotion
